In Dubrovnik there are only two possible docking places.   The bigger cruise ships will end up docking in Gruz Harbor, a suburb of Dubrovnik.  Whereas smaller cruise ships are permitted to anchor in the Old Harbor of Dubrovnik which puts tourists right into the heart of this old city.

Kuna is the form of currency used in Dubrovnik.  Merchants and restaurants will often accept Euros but definitely do not take U.S. dollars.  The best bet is to use credit cards wherever possible and keeping small amounts of money for activities for sight seeing which can easily be converted into Kuna.  Dubrovnik offers many ATM machines and exchange bureaus both at port and throughout town.

Getting Around Dubrovnik

There are multiple forms of getting around the magnificent city of Dubrovnik once you’re docked.  Free shuttles are offered at Gruz Harbor for large cruise ships that provide free shuttles into the old city (usually a 15-minute ride).  Buses are just outside pier gates, fare for buses are 10 Kuna (2 USD) and exact change is required.  Taxis also found at pier gates cost roughly 50 Kuna (10 USD).  If you intend on walking, know there are pedestrian-only streets for sightseeing in Dubrovnik which always access to almost anything your tourist eye wishes to do or see.

What to Watch For in Dubrovnik

Locals often warn tourist of pickpockets.  The areas most popular for tourists in Dubrovnik are walking destinations so be sure to wear comfortable shoes.
